I am in the process of putting in a new double cut rig in our mill. one of the suppliers quoting on this (McDonough) claims that a majority of the rigs they install run with no crown. ? Has any one experimented with running flat ground band wheels on any style rig. double cut or single? Was it a success or complete failure?
Feedback please :)

Hi Gary, I would want .003> .004" crown in the middle. I don't think that would be a problem, but if they were flat, the saw could wander, run back or ? and then you are wondering if it's the grind or something else.

Dave is right about crown on wheels, and I am sure that most guys run a crown. The supplier guy is full of it, as a crown will allow you to push the feed rate. Best to contact Advance Saw, (Greg or Justin) as they will come in and grind your wheels for yoy. Most cost effective way, and they are professionals at what they do.
