General Discussion / Pre Apprenticeship Testing
« Last post by SerLac on January 20, 2015, 02:00:42 PM »
Is there anyone out there that has a pre apprenticeship test that they use to narrow down their candidate list?  We have one that our MW's use and the Electricians have one as well, but was looking for something more specific to Filers.

General Discussion / B.C. Saw Filerís Association 2015 CONFERENCE
« Last post by Trevor Shpeley on December 14, 2014, 08:49:00 PM »
Just in case you missed it on the news page or the home mail-out

B.C. Saw Filerís Association         2015 CONFERENCE

On behalf of The BC Saw Filerís association executive I am pleased to invite you to our upcoming conference in Kamloops, BC April 24-25, 2015 at the Coast Kamloops Hotel and Conference Center. The trade show portion of the event begins at 12:00 pm and ends at 7:00 pm, Friday the 24th and is open to all Filers, Mill Managers and Maintenance Supervisors. Last year we had forty (40) exhibitors offering a look at the latest in technology, products and services. This year promises to be the same.
In the theatre room after the trade show we are planning a full buffet dinner followed by entertainment featuring Comedian Clinton Gray. Tickets are $25.00, a good value for an excellent meal and a few laughs.
Saturday the 25th we will hold the associations Annual General Meeting. Membership dues for Filers and Associates will again be $20.00 this year. Registration is available on site Friday and Saturday, however, we are planning a early registration option where dinner tickets may also be purchased. If you are unable to attend but would still like to register, please forward all your information and a check payable to myself at 2352 Tallus Ridge Dr., West Kelowna, BC V4T 3B6. More information regarding the agenda for the AGM and how to register early will be made available in the coming months. We have hotel rooms blocked off at the Coast Kamloops. Reservations can he made by calling 1-800-663-1144 using group code CKH-GFC 2585 or reference B.C Saw Filers. Cut off is March 23, 2015.
On behalf of the executive I would like to thank everyone in advance for your continued support. We along with the industry have seen some success in the past few years. The importance of a conference such as ours is not only that it allows us to renew old acquaintances and make new ones, but it also brings together new technology and ideas for us to learn by and remain competitive in the future. I am looking forward to seeing everyone in Kamloops.

Sincerely,

Bryan Glaister

13 of us just finished our level one course in Williams Lake. While we are already employed there is one guy whose mill had shut down but took the course anyway. If you are looking for someone let me know and I'll pass it along.
