B.C.S.F.A. Historical Society Over the past 50 years, a small group of our members have created a Historical Society to preserve the history of our association and trade, by the use of photos and artifacts, along with profiles of saw filers who have contributed much to our association. To introduce a structure to the Historical Society, the 2001 executive has appointed Dennis Reid, Chief Instructor at B.C.I.T. Saw Trades, as “caretaker” of The B.C. Saw Filer’s Association Historical Society and all of its possessions. At present, all of the society displays and historical records are being stored at B.C.I.T. Saw Trades for safe keeping and easy accessibility. After seeing how hard Dennis worked to get Phil Quelch’s miniature sawmill to Prince George for the 50th convention, I’m sure he will do a great job as Caretaker. The Societies aims and objectives are to hold regular meetings, to chart the future of this society and put displays together for our yearly conventions. This may include repairs to the miniature sawmill, built by Mr.Phil Quelch, collecting, cleaning and identifying old tools of our trade, along with collecting and displaying old photos. We may also visit local sawmills and Flea Markets to rescue old tools. I would like to take this opportunity to invite everyone with an interest in our trade, to join the B.C. Saw Filer’s Association Historical Society and help us preserve our Saw Filing history. | For more information please call : | Dennis Reid, Caretaker at....
